The most popularly fished game fish in Floridas waters is the Spotted Seatrout. Here Capt. Danny has a 6lb trout caught in Cedar Key in early fall.  The most productive season for the Trout is spring,  big spawning females are pretty much every trip and big group limits are not hard to catch. We always promote but not demand the release of a big spawning female due to it being such a heavily fished species, but photos are a must. The daily limit for our section of florida is five per person, 15" to 20" with one of the five being over 20".

The Redfish is Capt. Dannys favorite targeted species dating back from his childhood and even more as a adult. The Redfish is the hard nose bully of our shallow flats their productive months are July through October with September and October being thier spawning peroid. But can be targeted and caught year round. Their daily limit is 1 per person measuring 18" to 27".  Anglers come from miles around to chase the Redfish in tournaments which makes for a big boast in revenue for the Sunshine State.

One of our seasonal species is the ever so powerful Cobia. Around late May these fish migrate from off shore to the panhandle then south to our waters of Cedar Key. They are mostly targeted with live bait usually around structure like shallow rock beds. The keeper size is 33" measured to the fork of the tail. Our biggest to date with SS Charters out of Cedar Key was a 70lb fish, we have caught several in the 50lb range.

Last but not least the Black Drum this is probly one of the easiest fish to sight fish in our waters. If ya havent ever tried it, its a must. Now they are big and ugly but they pull like a train and you can catch this fish from 25 feet away. Just imagine a 10 to 12 inch wide tail in 2 ft of water waving  in the surface. Your goal get into casting range before he feels you. Present the bait as life like as possible. BAMM i think you know the rest.
